Nanoparticles fighting cancer cells

  • In this image, a cytoskeleton is being stained with a DAPI stain. In a DAPI stain, a chemical dye is inserted into the double-stranded DNA to help it bind to the DNA. DAPI staining is often used to better understand the morphology of a cell, and it stains the nucleus of a cell with a blue dye. In this image, the green dye highlights the cytoskeleton of the cell and the red dye highlights the nanoparticles being used.

  • This research heavily relates to cancer treatment using nanotechnology. If this technology is completely successful, it can save millions of lives. Here, staining is used to show how the nanoparticles are interacting with the cancer cells.
